My thoughts on this "Holiday"

Valentines day can be such an odd holiday, and this is coming from someone who’s in a committed relationship with the most loving boyfriend. The concept behind valentine’s day is sweet, your supposed to appreciate your significant other and make sure they know you love them; but shouldn’t you be doing that every day? Not just one day of the year? If your in a relationship your supposed to make sure your significant other ALWAYS feels loved EVERYDAY not just one day out of the year.
Instead of celebrating your love for your significant other just one day of the year you should work everyday to celebrate the love you share. I don’t know how other people feel about this but to me it feels nice to get appreciated a little every day of the year instead of just acknowledging it on one day. The thing I love most about my boyfriend is that he and I strive to do this every day, we may forget sometimes or get into a fight but we are always doing our best to remind each other of our love on a daily basis. A simple encouraging or “thinking of you” text is all it takes sometimes.
My boyfriend doesn’t do this often but on occasion for no reason he will go out and buy me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and surprise me with them. To me that is more special than him going out and getting me flowers because its valentines day and he feels like he has to do something for me.
Valentines day does a great job of making people feel like they have to do something for their significant other and if they don’t then they must not care. Thats simply not true, my boyfriend and I have agreed that we don’t need to make a huge deal about valentines day for many different reasons, but instead we treat it as any other day. I believe loving someone means you should love them as much as you can everyday and do little things to ensure they know just how much they mean to you.
Hope you enjoyed!
